The first Day of Ceramics was held in July 1972, although over the years the festival has evolved into a tourist and participatory event, where visiting workshops or participating in activities on the street is available. It was in 2001 when the “Day of Ceramics” becomes the “Festa of Ceramics”, and as in the begining, it is organized by the city council of Manises.
In 2008, the Department of Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana declared that the Cavalcade and the Festa of Ceramics is a Festival of Autonomous Tourist Interest, which encouraged its external promotion and consolidation as an unmissable event for everyone interested in Spanish craftsmanship.
The traditional location is the Blasco Ibáñez Street, where more than 20 tents are placed, and where you can see the artisans working and / or purchase products in a principal contact with the artisan. In these places there are all kinds of techniques, from the reflection of raku, wicker, toned, painted, etc. It is a discovering world of Ceramics, where kids and olds may participate.
