The WCC-BF, the Belgian branch of the Global Council of Craftsmanship (Consejo Mundial de la Artesanía WCC-BF, announces the European Prize for Applied Arts, which has the objective of recognising the best contemporary creations in applied arts and craft design. The winners are selected by an international group of judges based on the judgement of artistic qualities, technique and innovation. The European Prize is made up of three categories:

  • The ”Master Prize“, Prize of the Ministry of Culture of the Federation of Wallonia- Brussels: a reward of 3.500 euros that will be awarded to the author of a masterpiece (for people older than 36 as of July 1, 2015).
  • The “Young Talent Prize”, Prize of the Global Council of Craftsmanship (WCC-Europe): a reward of 3.000 euros that will be rewarded to a young artist (younger than 35 years as of July 1, 2015).
  • The ”Mons 2015 Prize”, prize with a reward in cash of 3.500 euros, which will be awarded to an artist that applies innovation in the production process of his works.


Works of every craftsmanship discipline can be submitted (pottery, glassware, textiles, jewellery, wood, paper, furniture, accessories, etc.) which are of recent creation (produced after January 1, 2013). The deadline for the submission of applications is on February 15, 2015.
